Compensation:              Salary 
Starting Pay:                  $40,600 - $62,125 DOE; AAU Teacher Salary Schedule   

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education:         Master’s degree in social work, counseling or related degree.
Experience:       No experience required; 3 years’ experience in the field preferred.
Certification:     Social Work or School Counseling certification; CSW
Background:     Clear FBI background check.
Language:         Strong verbal and writing skills in English; Spanish fluency preferred.

Job Duties 

Essential Duties 
  • Model the Athlos culture. 
  • Participate in and provide professional development. 
  • Communicate with parent/guardians and the community professionally.  
  • Use data to discuss, develop, and continually improve the school counseling program.  
  • Communicate the objectives of the counseling program to administration, teachers, students, parent/guardians, and the Athlos Academy Governing Board. 
  • Participate in child find and other special education related meetings.   
  • Manage the school's referral process as part of the school's comprehensive school counseling program.  
  • Help develop individualized program plans for each student.  
  • Develop and maintains effective working relationships with children, their families, teachers, administration, court systems, law enforcement agencies, social service agencies and other helping professionals. 
  • Ensure the program is meeting applicable standards; advises on improvements to meet policy requirements.  
  • Implement prevention-oriented activities to meet student needs and goals of the program.  
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs. 
  • Help students develop communication and conflict resolution skills  
  • Use assessment tools and techniques to structure individual/group counseling services.  
  • Work with parent/guardians to teach students life skills (education, career, and life planning).  
  • Collaborate with administration and others on counseling plans; communicate plans effectively with students and parent/guardians.  
  • Assist with additional duties connected to school leadership while developing a strong school climate.  
  • Serve as a member of the Crisis Management Team.

  • Gives and receives positive and constructive feedback from colleagues.

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Classroom and video platforms such as: Zoom or Teams.   
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage the entire classroom. 
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Experience working in diverse communities and a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives. 
  • Demonstrated integrity and high standards in managing information in a confidential and professional manner.
